@Rex Banner because saying "stick to NASCAR" says nothing about the tracks they run, right? I'm pointing out there are a LOT of world class NON NASCAR tracks in the United States and only someone with less than half a brain would think that the only thing we enjoy is NASCAR.

@Corey Chick Enrique’s comment was about knowledge of F1, and you reply by listing a bunch of road course proving what exactly? Funny that he made no mention of tracks or ovals.

Ummmmmmmm Nico was BORN AND RAISED in Monaco. Finland still has Mika, Kimi and Keke. So get your facts rights. I'm not surprised a non-fan gets all this wrong. Pronounce Nigel's last name again, please? Exactly. I'm sure he got into F1 like 3 months ago....still all this is easily found on Google or, God forbid, books like autobiographies and F1 season reviews!

Just a little correction: Mercedes didn't win constructors championships in 1954 and 55 because there was no constructors championship until 1958 or 59, only the drivers championship. However, as they dominated the two seasons and won the drivers championships, they surely could be seen as the constructor champions, even if technically speaking they weren't (Also, saying that they had a 60 year slump after that, when in fact they weren't participating in all those years, is a bit stupid)

I'm from Finland and I kind of agree those explanations why Finnish drivers are so quick, but saying sisu is the main reason is just boring and a cliche. I would say the biggest reason is just simply wealth and being crazy enough to spend thousands of euros in motorsports.

I'd like to see a 3rd statistic: % drivers with >5 podiums. F1 tends to go through eras of 1 or 2 drivers absolutely dominating. Since 1990, just 4 drivers: Schumacher, Hamilton, Vettel, and Senna account for 20/31 season champs. I believe podium finishes gives a better representation of premier drivers that maybe were overshadowed by one driver that was just so far ahead of the pack. I also chose podiums over race wins because the same drivers who win multiple seasons also tend to dominate that category as well with many double digit wins in a season

Thank Donut Media for this great video. I come from Finland and driving vehicles (or riding motorcycle/mtb) is the only thing I can do well. I don´t like to talk too much, I hate big crowds, I hate small talk but I am very interested in things on wheels. I was born in a farm and I learned to turn steering wheel before I could walk. By the age of 12 I had backed up with a tractor ( with trailer ) more than many normal 19 year old kid had driven forward with a car . I have always found deep and endless interest in wheels in motion; how the wheel reacts and moves on different surfaces with different speeds and weighs on it. I have enourmous respect for the vehicle that I am driving and I never really try to mess it up. ( due the fact that there is no other vehicle laying around if this happen to break up) And usually my vehicles don´t break. And this might be why some finns are champions. They keep cool and they never use excessive force when racing. Consistent/ smooth driving and understanding limits of the machine makes you a champion. You can win one race if you have the best vehicle and unlimited resources, but in order to win championship, takes a lot more than money or just burning desire to win. If you take Keijo "Keke" Rosberg, won only one F1 race ( Switzerland 1982) but he won the championship. So why finns do great in racing. 1. natural interest on fast moving vehicles, it is their hobby. Many race for the hobby, not just to win. 2. Scarcity of (fast) moving vehicles and resource. Fck up your vehicle and your are out for the season. 3.racedrivers keep their cool. 4. Mingling with girls and doing party tricks in a big crowd is not an interest of finnish racing driver. He hates attention of others. He is here to race. For FUN.

The reason mercedes didn't win between 1955 and 2014 is because they left Motorsport for 50 years following this horrible LeMans incident that saw a mercedes car crash into the stands killing an awfull lot of people, not because they struggled !

Other curiosities about Brazil in F1 not mentioned: . - The country had 2 teams on the grid: the Bandeirantes team in the 50s and the Fittipaldi team in the 70s and 80s. . - The country launched 2 chief engineers in the category like Ricardo D'villa, who introduced kevelar protection in the cockpit, which even saved the grosjean in 2020, and Ricardo Penteado, who is the current chief engineer of the Renault Alphine F1. . - In addition to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília have already received F1 stages.

Brazil is the largest audience for F1 in the world, the numbers grow each year and since Senna died we had some of the most brilliant drivers in history, like Barrichello and Massa. To say that Brazilians are not interested in F1 is a huge missed statement, in the last years Brazilians even started to watch F2 and F3, last year a national campaign to find sponsors for a young racer (Gianluca Pentecoff) brought together the huge millionaires from the soy industry together and he is gonna race in next year's F2. Do your research better dude.

Brazil got Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello. Massa almost got the home title, in 2008 - if not to Ferrari screwing him up. And Barrichello was an excellent second driver, scoring many points for Schumacher's titles and Brawn 2009. Thank god this year both of them will race at Stock Car, the brazilian nascar.
