I always went as follows: Stage 1: Slap it on, done. Stage 2: Shit you can't just slap on but have to take some shit apart and then do other shit so the shit you slapped on in the 1st place works. Stage 3: Completely taking shit apart, at this point the original parts would implode due to lack of durability.

In the Subaru community we have a pretty widely accepted "stage" system, its mainly just a quick way to sum up what kind of mods we have. But it's unique to each Make, like a stage 2 Subaru WRX isn't necessarily the same as a stage 2 VW GTI.

IMHO the idea of stages with regards to making a car faster is meaningless and also a waste of money. A better approach would be to set a 1/4 mile goal like "I want an 11 second car that can beat a C8 corvette" then build the car to the goal. The idea of pay-as-you go by upgrading a car a little bit at a time from stage 1 to stage 2 to stage 3 and so on is very expensive. You end up replacing parts you just bought with slightly better parts then replacing that part with another slightly better part. You upgrade the engine then you find the next weakest link which might be the transmission. You upgrade the transmission then you find the next weakest link which might be the differential. Tell me what your car does in the 1/4 mile and I can easily compare it to other cars. Tell me what stage your car is and that tells me nothing except maybe you spent more or less than someone else with the same car. Speed = Money. How fast do you want to go?

in my life i learn that stages in car mods are like that stage 1 ecu........ just software tune only stage 2 small changes like pipes.. injectors.... etc yea there are moreXD stage 3 change form n/a to turbo or super or just going bigger fo mo power babeXD stage 4 are forged pistons,,, cranks ....bolts.... stage 5 i dont rly care anymore this 4 are enough for me
